Utah’s Higher Education Data Privacy and Governance 2022 revisions apply to the collection, maintenance, and governance of student data at the university.

Establishes requirements for educational institutions to protect student data, create and maintain a data governance plan that complies with the law, record privacy trainings in compliance with the law, and enacts data use, sharing, and selling restrictions between institutions and third party contractors. SB226 also requires that affected individuals are notified if their data is involved in significant data breach.
